Tropical theme pays off in Best Booth contest at salsa festival

Offering free mini massages in its booth at the Maricopa Salsa Festival Presented by inmaricopa.com apparently paid off.

Two of the top-three ranking booths did just that, with Maricopa Back & Neck Care’s Hawaiian-themed booth coming out on top.

“That’s awesome,” said Juanita Chavez, an office assistant at the center. “We really went out. We really tried to get the best booth. We tried decorating it as much as possible.”

Pineapples and a Hawaiian table cloth dressed the table, while leis and grass skirts clothed those inside the healthcare organization’s tent.

But why go Hawaiian?

“We just heard it was going to be 100 degrees that weekend, so we thought, ‘Let’s go Hawaiian,'” she said.

For its efforts, Maricopa Back & Neck Care will receive $1,000 in advertising with inmaricopa.com.

As a way to thank those who took the time to vote for the best booth, one ballot was selected at random for $100 in cash. The winner, whose ballot identified her simply as “Macayla,” will receive notification by email shortly.

Inexplicably, 25 people voted for salsa in the box marked for Best Booth ballots, one voted for the beer garden and four cast votes for non-existent booths.

Here are the top three rankings:
Maricopa Back & Neck Care – 1
Maricopa Black Belt Academy – 2
Body Kneads Massage – 3
