A 33-year-old Maricopa man and a 36-year-old Casa Grande man could face criminal charges after pulling a prank on a co-worker who was serving on a grand jury last week in Pinal County Superior Court.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office suspects Will Packard of Maricopa and Robert Marquez of Casa Grande left a handwritten note on the vehicle of their co-worker that read, “You better not find my dad guilty! I followed you home last Wednesday I know where you live —hole!" (InMaricopa.com removed the name of the road included in this quote).

The two men could be charged with influencing a juror, disorderly conduct and threatening and intimidating, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

The co-worker found the handwritten note on his vehicle Wednesday when he was taking a break from grand jury proceedings in Florence. The note was written on a guest check used by restaurants.

The sheriff’s office determined the check originated from a Florence restaurant. A waitress at the restaurant told detectives two customers who came into the establishment asked for something to write on and explained they were going to play a joke on their co-worker. After one of the men wrote the note, they asked the waitress to re-write the note so their friend wouldn’t recognize the handwriting.

At first, the waitress thought it was a bad idea because the co-worker might call law enforcement, but they persuaded her by saying they would tell their co-worker at work the next day.

From the credit card receipt paid at the restaurant, detectives were able to track down Packard who said he and Marquez were playing a “prank” on their co-worker. The two men had taken a photo of the note on the vehicle and were planning to show their friend the picture when he came into work.

Grand jury proceedings were interrupted so detectives could investigate. The case is being submitted to the Pinal County Attorney’s Office for review.
