Varsity volleyball looking for second win Tuesday vs. Coolidge

The Maricopa Rams varsity volleyball team is looking to regroup this Tuesday when they begin conference play.

Unable to secure a single victory at last weekend’s tournament with squads from Gila River, Page and Mayer, the team ended up as the fourth seed, facing off with eventual tournament champion Page.

“We had a difficult time handling serves and were not serving well ourselves,” said MHS volleyball coach Paul Olsen.

Maricopa players Tabitha Hoctor and Arielle Fife were named to the all-tournament team, and both girls received votes for MVP.

The team lost its previous two regular season games in straight sets after opening the season with a win.

Tuesday they will face winless Coolidge, who has played two games so far in the early season and has been semi-competitive in both.

Both teams have played Wickenburg, with Coolidge losing 2-3 and Maricopa losing in straight sets 0-3.
