‘Virtual’ jeweler at Arizona Stagestop Marketplace through Feb. 14

A local jeweler that makes house calls has set up shop through Valentine’s Day at Arizona Stagestop Marketplace.

But don’t be fooled by its name.

Maricopa Virtual Jeweler is anything but tacit, especially through Valentine’s Day while Maricopa business owners Jason Hooker and Carmen Hooker maintain a temporary physical presence at the Arizona Stagestop Marketplace on the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway just east of North John Wayne Parkway.

The wholesale jeweler generally offers its products and services to its Maricopa neighbors by making house calls. Rather than going door to door, the Hookers stick to prearranged appointments generated by leads from the company Web site, www.maricopavirtualjeweler.com.

During special events or holiday seasons, such as this month’s celebration of love, the couple will set up shop to add an extra level of service and availability.

“Our model of operation will allow for an extremely high level of personal customer service with unequaled pricing,” Jason Hooker said.

A recent visit to the Hooker’s temporary space revealed stacks of wholesale jewelry catalogues ready for assisting customer purchases, along with a variety of in-stock items ranging in price from $1 to hundreds of dollars.

The “fun stuff” includes costume jewelry in popular designs such as crowns, serpentine, skulls, strawberries and more.

Rings and pendants are available in gold, silver, sterling silver and sterling silver dipped in gold for beauty and added durability.

In addition, Maricopa Virtual Jewelry offers watch and jewelry repair – including house calls.

“What other jeweler do you know who will come by an pick up a watch or ring for repair or resizing?” Jason Hooker said.

The most popular items now are diamond accent pendants in sterling silver, which sell at $32 and up, depending on the piece, Carmen Hooker said. Through Valentine’s Day all people who work or own and operate a local business will receive a 20 percent discount.
