Enjoy Thursday’s mild weather, because the weekend forecast is cooking up a heat watch, according to the National Weather Service.

Today is expected to be sunny with a high near 83 degrees F and an overnight low around 58.

Friday, the forecast calls for a high jumping to 93 under sunny skies. Overnight, the sky will remain clear while the low drops to 62.

Saturday heads into triple digits. Expect a high near 101 with only mild wind and sunny skies. The night will be mostly clear with a low around 68.

Sunday, the high is expected to be 106, triggering the heat watch, in effect all day, as the skies remain sunny. A heat watch goes into effect when temperatures are 105-107. The nighttime low will be around 69.

Triple digits are expected to remain in place for at least the first half of next week with only a few clouds in the long-term forecast.

During a heat watch, temperatures of 105 or above will significantly increase the potential for heat related illness. Those working or being active outdoors during the daytime or those without access to adequate air conditioning will be most at risk.

Never leave kids or pets unattended in cars. Drink more water than usual and avoid alcohol, sugar, and caffeine. When outdoors, wear light colored clothing and a wide-brimmed hat to keep your head and body cooler. Take frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Public places with air conditioning include libraries, community centers, government buildings, malls, and special refuge stations.
