The late-week heat – 109 degrees Thursday and 110 degrees Friday – will last one more day before temperatures begin to moderate for the beginning of the next week.

On Friday night, temperatures will fall to near 82, but the mercury will climb to about 107 degrees on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The moderation begins Sunday with a high temperature forecast at about 104 degrees.

Temperatures will decrease early next week before rising again into the high 100s late in the week.

Gusty winds are possible through Monday.

All of the high temperatures in the forecast seem low compared to the all-time record high for Phoenix set 30 years ago today. The temperature rose to 122 degrees at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at 2:47 p.m. on June 26, 1990, a Tuesday many in the metro area will never forget.
