Wells Fargo offering free funds to kids who save

Saturday both Maricopa Wells Fargo locations will hold a special event aimed at interesting youth in saving.

Children under 18 years of age, who open a savings account with a minimum deposit of $25, have the opportunity to earn up to $9.99.

“When a new account is opened, the child will stick their hand inside a jar of replica coins. The total pulled out is the amount that Wells Fargo will deposit into their account,” said Wells Fargo Maricopa Fiesta branch manager Jeana Saari.

In addition to the free money, each youth will also get a free, red piggy bank.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Bashas’ location and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the location in the Fry’s Marketplace parking lot.

To be eligible, the youth must have a social security card, and at least one parent must maintain a Wells Fargo account.

“This is a great opportunity to help your children learn about the value of a dollar,” Saari said.
