Christmas won't be white but it could be wet in Maricopa.

The days leading up to the holidays are looking rather wet in Maricopa, though there should be clearing on Christmas Day.

Today, the National Weather Service is now calling for 50 percent chance of rain in the form of scattered showers. The high is expected to be around 69 degrees. Showers will continue tonight, with likelihood increasing to 80 percent. The low will be around 53.

Thursday is forecast to be quite damp, with an 80 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon. The high is expected to be around 66. The overnight low will be around 48 degrees, and the chance of rain will decrease to 20 percent.

Friday will be partly sunny with a high of 66, though a 20-percent chance of showers will persist. The night will be partly cloudy with a low around 47.

Saturday, showers are likely for Christmas Eve and the beginning of Hanukkah. The day will be partly sunny with a high near 67 and winds around 10-15 mph. There may be gusts up to 30 mph. The chance for precipitation is 70 percent. That night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 39 and winds of 20-25 mph. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is expected.

Sunday, clouds are expected to begin to clear off. Despite a 10-percent chance of showers, Christmas Day is forecast to be sunny with a high near 58. The night will be mostly clear with a low around 37.

At this point, next week forecast calls for sunny days with mild temperatures, but another storm front is anticipated later in the week.
