Maricopa could be in for a few wet-and-windy days, including part of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a significant chance of rain every day through Saturday, ranging from 20% Wednesday night to 40% Thursday to 70% Thursday night and through Saturday night, forecasters said.

The NWS is predicting showers and perhaps thunderstorms Friday afternoon, with the chance of rain at 60% and a high temperature of only 93.

The Maricopa area is under a flash flood watch from 5 p.m. Thursday until 11 p.m. Saturday, the weather service said.

Rain remains likely through Sunday, with unseasonably cool temperatures over the weekend in the low 90s accompanied by a chance of locally heavy rain. The chance of precipitation drops to 40% Monday and 20% Tuesday, with high temperatures returning to about 100.

According to the weather service, the Maricopa area has registered 2.05 inches of precipitation since Oct. 1, significantly less than the normal amount of 5.17 inches. That’s about 60 percent below normal.
