A diverse array of activities, events and meetings is on tap for Maricopa this week, from the mayor’s annual State of the City speech to a business networking expo to a three-band metal concert featuring Skid Row.

MONDAY
Friends of the Maricopa Public Library meets at 5:30 p.m. at Maricopa Public Library, 41600 W. Smith-Enke Road. Come help with reading programs, read to children, plan fund-raisers, join book club, award scholarships and help with book sales. New members are always welcome.

Maricopa Planning & Zoning Committee meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 39700 W. Civic Center Plaza. The agenda includes a public hearing: Crescent Bay Land Fund 1 LLC is requesting preliminary plat approval of a 164-acre subdivision to yield 467 single family lots. The proposed development is located at the south west corner of Farrell Road and Anderson Road.

TUESDAY
Coffee with Friends of the Maricopa Library is from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Maricopa Public Library, 41600 W. Smith-Enke Road. Meet every Tuesday for refreshments and conversation and get acquainted with the library. All ages welcome.

B2B Expo (Business to Business Expo) at 5 p.m. at Central Arizona College, Room A102, 17945 N. Regent Drive. Sponsored by the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce and Maricopa Center for Entrepreneurship, this is a chance to see the largest selection of Maricopa entrepreneurs, startups and businesses in one place at one time.

Youth Council meets at 6 p.m. in Multipurpose Room A at Copper Sky. The new council will elect officers, look at ongoing projects, receive updates on the Development Services Department and the city council webpage and discuss possible events. They will also begin planning a Youth Town Hall.

Lions Club meet at 7 p.m. in the library at Sequoia Pathway Academy, 19265 N. Porter Road. They are planning exciting events, hearing from guest speaker and getting updates on the children vision screening in Maricopa schools.

WEDNESDAY
“Overcoming Fear” is a presentation by hypnotherapist Bob Faith, presented by Maricopa Center for Entrepreneurship, 20800 N. John Wayne Pkwy, Ste. 108, at 6 p.m.

Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board meets at 6:30 in the District Office building, 44150 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. Agenda items include override recommendations, options for selling school property, personnel approval, a capital projects report and a presentation on Ignite.

THURSDAY
Maricopa Shutter Shots Contest is a 24-hour opportunity for all residents to capture Maricopa in photographs, with prizes for the best shots.

State of the City Address will be delivered by Mayor Christian Price at 6 p.m. at Maricopa City Hall. This year’s theme is “Building a City.” Space is limited, so RSVP at 520-316-6827.

SATURDAY
Maricopa Pet Adoption Event is from 8 a.m. to noon at the Pet Club, 21145 N. John Wayne Parkway. Pinal County Animal Care and Control will have a nice selection of adoptable animals.

Friends of the Library Book Sale is a major, annual fund-raiser for the nonprofit organization Come to Santa Rosa Elementary School, 21400 N. Santa Rosa Drive, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a wide selection of books and other items.

Laser Tag Showdown from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. kicks off the Maricopa High School Homecoming week with the annual event of students, staff and community members at UltraStar Multi-tainment Center, 16000 Maricopa Road.

Concert in the Park series at Copper Sky Amphitheater kicks off the season at 6 p.m. Headliner acts start at 6:30 p.m. Grab your family and friends, bring a blanket, chair, picnic or non-alcoholic beverage and enjoy the show.

Skid Row & Great White with Autograph combine for a big show, free in the UltraStar Amphitheater, 16000 N. Maricopa Road. This is the first show in the Harrah’s Ak-Chin and UltraStar concert series. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Lawn seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.
