Some of the things that are happening this week in Maricopa include government involvement and entertainment.

WEDNESDAY
General Plan Open House resumes with two sessions to choose from today from 10 a.m. to noon and again at 5 p.m. These sessions will be in Maricopa Unified School District Office Meeting Room 118.

Maricopa 101 is from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Zephyr conference room at City Hall. In this session learn about the valuable business resources and organizations dedicated to providing tools for businesses to thrive in Maricopa.

THURSDAY
Laura Walsh is in Concert from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room A101 at Central Arizona College – Maricopa. Hear the local “American Idol” contestant before she heads to Hollywood Week. Admission is $7.

SATURDAY
Community Awards Banquet is presented by the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Elements Event Center next to Ultrastar. Awards will be presented to WAZ Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Sonny Dunn Citizen of the Year, Renate Chamberlin Volunteer of the Year, Educator of the Year, Civil Servant of the Year and Nonprofit of the Year.
