A woman is accused by Maricopa police of driving under the influence (slightest degree) and resisting arrest after they stopped the vehicle regarding an incident reported at a local restaurant on Sunday night.

Nicole M. Adams, 28, was booked into Pinal County jail on the charges as well as suspicion of disorderly conduct and obstructing government operations, according to Maricopa police.

At 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 5, Maricopa police responded to a bar and grill, where staff reported a man and woman had argued before leaving in a blue minivan. The staff told police they reported the incident because they were worried the argument could turn physical.

Officers found the minivan, where they contacted Adams, and a man. Officers spoke with Adams, but when they tried to speak to the man, she reportedly snatched her identification card from an officer.

According to Maricopa police, Adams continued to interfere with their investigation while they were speaking to the man.

When officers informed Adams that she was being detained as part of the investigation, she reportedly became hostile. Maricopa police reported that when officers attempted to place her in a police vehicle, she resisted and became physically combative.

During the arrest, Adams reportedly smelled of intoxicating liquors. According to a probable-cause statement, she had glossy eyes and slurred speech.

Later, Adams consented to a blood draw, which was sent to the Arizona Department of Public Safety for testing.

Adams has a court hearing in Maricopa Municipal Court on Feb. 8, according to online jail records.
