Traffic on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway was temporarily stalled after a car erupted in flames tonight.

Around 9:25 p.m., a car crashed into a light pole near White and Parker Road and Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. Witnesses pulled an adult male driver from the vehicle, after which it burst into flames.

Maricopa firefighters managed to put out the flames and traffic in all directions was affected until 10 p.m.

A public safety spokesperson said the driver was transported to an area hospital “with serious injuries.”
