3 arrested in officer-involved shooting

One man and two other people are arrested on unknown charges following an officer-involved shooting in Desert Cedars this morning.

Maricopa Police Department responded to a hit-and-run near Desert Cedars Drive and Cypress Lane just after 9 a.m. and found three people inside the “suspect vehicle” nearby.

The three people ran from officers. Two were “quickly located” and arrested, according to public safety spokesperson Monica Williams.

After a two-hour search that involved local, county and state units on the ground and in the air, law enforcement later found the third person in a backyard, armed with a rifle. An MPD officer fired at the man but missed. The man surrendered.

Police recovered two guns at the scene of the shooting. No officers were injured.

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and Arizona state troopers responded. The investigation has been turned over to PCSO, according to Williams.
