UPDATE 3:32 p.m. July 8, 2025 The Arizona Department of Public Safety has released new details about what caused this morning’s crash and how many people were injured.
“Preliminary information indicates an Econoline van rear-ended another vehicle that was slowing for traffic,” DPS spokesperson Bart Graves told InMaricopa. “That in turn caused a chain-reaction collision.”
Witness footage shared on Snapchat’s SnapMap — a feature that lets users post photos and videos by location — showed first responders placing the driver of the Econoline van onto a stretcher.
Three people were injured, according to Graves. One of them sustained “serious” injuries, authorities said.

UPDATE 11:33 a.m. July 8, 2025 DPS clarified that four vehicles were impacted in the collision, one more car than initially reported.
State troopers are still on the scene investigating. Northbound lanes remain closed. The troopers have said that it was not a fatal crash.
