It’s not déjà vu, it’s the second T-bone crash today at a Rancho El Dorado entrance thanks to a driver failing to yield.
The three-car crash on Smith-Enke Road at Vintage Drive happened at 7:30 p.m. when Palo Brea resident Isis Mada was driving west toward John Wayne Parkway, she told InMaricopa at the crash site.
The driver of a black sedan didn’t look both ways before he pulled out right in front of Mada, in her Jeep Cherokee, causing her to T-bone the sedan, she told reporters.
Her two young children were in the car at the time.
The impact pushed the black sedan into a third car, which was headed east, the opposite direction, Mada said.
Maricopa Police, Fire and Medical Departments had rushed to the scene.
“Thankfully there were no injuries, however the roadway was closed eastbound on Smith-Enke at Santa Cruz as the vehicles were disabled in the roadway,” the public safety spokesperson Monica Williams said.
“Tow trucks are on scene, so it’s estimated to reopen in the next half hour,” Williams said just before 8:30 p.m.
Indeed, reporters at the scene noted drivers were forced to take Butterfield Parkway to Honeycutt Road as a detour. The area is heavily congested.
InMaricopa has reported six crashes at or immediately near that intersection since Oct. 9.
