UPDATE 12:02 p.m. Oct. 4, 2025 Yesterday around 2 p.m., PCSO got a call about a collision. Two vehicles were heading westbound on Papago Road near Amarillo Creek Parkway. One of the vehicles made an abrupt lane change and hit a truck heading in the same direction. The truck left the road and ended up in the pond nearby. The driver of the truck was transported to a hospital. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle refused medical attention.

ORIGINAL STORY 6:12 p.m. Oct. 3, 2025 A two-vehicle crash this afternoon left a pickup truck submerged in a pond and another vehicle heavily damaged just south of city limits.

The collision happened around 2 p.m. at Amarillo Creek Parkway and Papago Road, 900 yards east of a major construction zone where the fast-growing Papago is being widened. The speed limit drops from 45 mph to 25.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and closed that entrance to the Amarillo Creek subdivision. Due to the construction, only one of three entrances to that neighborhood was accessible this afternoon.

A Ford F-350 ended up in the water. There has been no information on the condition of the pickup’s driver, who had been freed from the partially submerged cab by 2:30 p.m. Reporters on the scene saw five people huddled outside the vehicle, and additional family members arrived shortly afterward.

Pinal County sheriff’s deputies declined to comment on the scene but suggested there weren’t life-threatening injuries. However, an ambulance had been present and preliminary information suggests someone was transported.

Another vehicle involved in the crash sustained significant damage, according to witnesses.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Neighbors had reported an erratic driver in Amarillo Creek, driving a white car, on social media minutes before the collision occurred. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is working on getting us more information.
