Maricopa Water & Ice is poised to see its first direct competitor set up shop just a mile down the main strip.
Paperwork submitted to the City of Maricopa proposes Mesa-based retailer 7 Plus Water and Alkaline moving into an empty 1,265-square-foot suite at Edison Pointe, according to public records released to InMaricopa this week.
The location is also now featured on the bottled water company’s website. It would be the 17th location for 7 Plus, which operates in the Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas and Dallas metros.
At Edison Pointe, Suite 110 was granted permits for commercial tenant improvements, fire alarms, fire sprinklers and a wall sign measuring less than 100 square feet in February. Today, the suite appears empty with some construction supplies strewn about.
7 Plus Water and Alkaline offers a selection of alkaline and reverse osmosis water, as well as bottles, dispensers and stands. Some locations also offer Thrifty or Blue Bunny ice cream.
Currently, the nearest locations are Arizona Avenue near Ray Road in Chandler and Trekell Road near Cottonwood Lane, the road that becomes Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.
