Barro’s Pizza will close the doors to its longstanding location — and reopen them just across Maricopa’s main drag later this month.
Permanent signage has recently been installed at the pizzeria’s new location near Fry’s Marketplace at 21101 N. John Wayne Parkway, Suite E102. Below are “COMING SOON” signs.
The storefront, which was previously a Pizza Hut before that business moved a few suites down earlier this year, will provide Barro’s with a much larger kitchen, smaller indoor dining area and an outdoor dining patio, General Manager Mike Hull told InMaricopa in December.
“Every once in a while, Barro’s will move locations a mile or two away. Usually, it brings a little more business when you move,” he said at the time, then predicting a March opening.
That time frame just wasn’t feasible with all the work that needed to be done, and Hull said yesterday that “it’s been a process.”
“They’re renovating the entire store over there,” Hull said. “They ripped everything out. It’s gutted, and they’re putting everything back together now.”
This is the first big change for Barro’s since it expanded into the bygone Radio Shack space in 2014 and its first move since it first opened on Smith-Enke Road in 2007.
“The whole vibe we had going on here is gonna be changed,” Hull said. “Everything’s coming together pretty nicely so hopefully here in the next two and a half weeks everything’s good to go.”
Hull said the last day Barro’s current location is expected to be open is May 28, and the doors at the new location should open May 30.
“Things could change, but they’re really pushing to get us in there before the end of the month,” Hull said.
