Barro’s Pizza is taking advantage of its next-door neighbor’s departure to expand its business. RadioShack is moving to smaller digs in the Fry’s Marketplace Plaza.
“We plan on starting to expand in the fall,” store manager Joey Donovan said. “We are turning the RadioShack into a family area with a party room and a kid’s area with video games.”
The expansion will add around 40 more seats to the restaurant and allow families or teams to rent out the space for parties. It also allows Barro’s to better accommodate its weekend rush of customers.
“We’ll pack out the place on Fridays and Saturdays with families and couples, and sometimes we have a waiting list where it takes 15 to 20 minutes for people to get a seat,” Donovan said.
Donovan said Barro’s, which opened in 2007, averages between $5,000 and $6,000 in net sales on Friday and Saturday.
“The expanded space should be available for use by November,” Donovan said.
