Maricopa Police and Fire Department responded to a rollover crash involving two cars at Smith-Enke and Vintage Roads at about 3:45 p.m. today.
Smith-Enke Road was closed between Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa and drivers who got caught in the traffic had to U-turn out of the area.
An ambulance arrived on scene at 3:54 p.m. where a white Chevy Traverse had rolled over and come to rest on its roof.
EMTs were checking on a woman and a small child who were sat by the Traverse.
Further down the road was a white sedan that appeared to have collided with the Traverse. There were two child seats removed from the car.
Air bags were deployed in the Traverse but did not appear to be deployed in the sedan.
Two people were seen being loaded into an ambulance. One was on a stretcher and the other was a woman who was walked very slowly to the ambulance while she held her forehead, according to reporters on the scene.
“One vehicle did roll onto its roof but thankfully no injuries were reported,” said MPD spokesperson Monica Williams. “A child was taken to the hospital for evaluation as a precaution.”
The traverse was back on its wheels and ready to be towed at 4:27 p.m.
Maricopa Fire Department Engine 571 was leaving the scene at 4:36 p.m.
Officers on the scene declined to comment as the crash is still under investigation.
Williams said the accident was expected to be cleared by 5 p.m.
