The city of Maricopa has sold two acres of land adjacent to the in-development Estrella Gin Business Park.

The mayor and City Council approved the sale of about two acres north of West Edison Road and west of North Roosevelt Avenue for $261,360 to the developers of the business park. The property lies immediately west of the Acacia Crossing subdivision.

Shane Cook of EXP Realty, which is handling the development and leasing of space at Estrella Gin, said there are no immediate plans for the land.

“There is no user for that piece yet, (but) it fits right into the rest of the business park perfectly though,” he said.

Quinn Konold, digital communications manager for the City, said the City is not involved in how the land will be developed.

“We are in escrow to sell these two acres at Estrella Gin,” Konold said. “It’s Joe Cook’s group, so the same group that is doing all the other stuff at Estrella Gin. We don’t have any building stipulations tied to the agreement, so ultimately, they could sell, build or do whatever.”

Estrella Gin currently has about 45,000 square feet of flex/office space under construction, which includes office space for the City of Maricopa, the first part of which will soon be occupied.

“The city should be taking possession of the space by the end of the month,” Cook said. “I think we were waiting on a permit to finish off some of the space.”

Cook said there are ongoing discussions with “a few groups on the flex space and (we) finished up our second plan review meeting last week. I suspect that construction will start soon.”
