Maricopa Police Chief Mark Goodman was all smiles during a peek inside his new HQ this week.

Goodman led a tour of the city’s new police department on Oct. 4 for elected officials and InMaricopa Wednesday evening.

“It’s always exciting to move into a new police building,” Goodman said during the tour. “That doesn’t happen often. This new station reflects our new vision as a department — as a big city police department.”

The $24.5 million building sits on the northeast corner of Bowlin Road and Maya Angelou Drive, just southeast of PD’s current digs. The station will house four holding cells, an expanded administration area and up to 20 dispatch consoles, as reported during the station’s groundbreaking.

The new station is slated to open next year.

InMaricopa joined Arizona state Rep. Teresa Martinez, Mayor Nancy Smith, Vice Mayor Rich Vitiello and Councilmembers Vince Manfredi, Bob Marsh and Henry Wade for a tour of the station and the Sonoran Desert Parkway.
