The stepson of Maricopa Constable Glenn Morrison faces criminal charges after allegedly taking a Taser and other equipment from the law enforcement official’s home.

Kel J. Avena was charged with theft after allegedly taking an Taser X2, a tourniquet and bandages during a Dec. 10 visit to Morrison’s home, according to Maricopa police.

Avena allegedly sent a text to his stepfather admitting he took the Taser by stating “Thanks for the taser its in my color too lmao,” according to a probable cause statement.

Avena was arrested in Tempe on Dec. 11, allegedly in possession of the Taser and for allegedly trespassing at a Tempe residence, Maricopa police said. The tourniquet and bandages were not located.

Avena was booked into Maricopa County Jail on trespassing and possessing stolen property charges after allegedly telling Tempe police he stole the Taser and would do it again, the probable cause statement said.
