Construction workers are getting down and dirty, as holes are drilled for supports on the North Porter Road bridge, a part of the Desert Sonoran Parkway project.

Dirt has been moving since the middle of June, when the city held its groundbreaking ceremony, kickings the initial leg of the $26 million project into motion. 

The 1.6 mile-stretch from North John Wayne Parkway to North Porter Road is expected to be completed this summer. 

The parkway will link State Route 347 to Interstate 10, incorporating stretches of the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, giving residents of the south side of the city a more efficient route to connect with I-10.
