If you’re ready to say goodbye to 100-degree days and spend a little more time outdoors, you’re in for an extra treat this weekend — and next year, a lot more of them. Starting in 2026, Copa Farmers Market will run every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., expanding from its current twice-monthly schedule.
But first, the farmers market that returned to Maricopa in January after an eight-year hiatus is moving its shopping experience back outdoors on Sunday, even as heavy rains predicted for today and tomorrow threaten to wash away the grounds.
Sorrento resident and market organizer Kevin Keone Okuma told InMaricopa they’ll be back outdoors at Central Arizona College, 17945 Regent Drive, “rain or shine.”
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through tomorrow night for Maricopa, with up to a 70% chance of rain. There’s also a 50% chance of thunderstorms Sunday.
“I mean, we’re going to see how it goes,” Okuma said. “We’re just calling it being blasted by the holy water.”
The farmers market spent the hot months cooped up inside CAC’s Maricopa campus off of Bowlin Road, limiting the number of vendors. Okuma said he’s excited to see the roster double by returning outdoors.
The expanded list includes 15 new vendors joining the farmers market for the first time — among them Keto Creations bakery, Piper Grove Crochet and Curve Clay Studio Pottery.
“We’re all excited. Just bring your umbrellas, your ponchos and come have fun. Come sing in the rain with us,” Okuma said.
Through December, the market is being held two Sundays each month beginning at 10 a.m. In addition to featuring local artisans, crafters and food vendors, the event also includes pet adoptions and a bounce house.
