Maricopa Police Department arrested a man accused of attacking his roommate and officers Jan. 19.
Cops arrested 55-year-old Todd Borton after he yelled at and spit on officers, according to a probable cause statement obtained by InMaricopa.
It was about 8: 30 p.m. when Borton arrived at his home on W. Cydnee Drive in The Villages at Rancho El Dorado. Police said he was intoxicated and banged on the front door.
When Borton’s roommate opened the door, Borton punched him in the face, according to police documents. Borton allegedly threw a glass table, breaking it and two lamps.
Borton allegedly threatened to kill his roommate during the assault. The roommate sprayed mace in Borton’s face in self-defense.
When police arrived, Borton threatened to kill the officers and tried to spit on them, according to police documents. MPD noted his spit landed on an officer’s shoes.
Officers transported Borton to a hospital, where they said he grabbed an officer’s wrist and wouldn’t let go. He was subdued with a taser.
Borton was booked into the Pinal County jail on charges of assault, disorderly conduct and criminal damage. He faces more than 10 years in prison.
