A shelter-in-place protocol was put into place at Desert Sunrise High School this morning but has since been lifted.

The protocol was result of a “physical altercation” on campus, according to a statement from Maricopa Unified School District.

The incident was resolved, and normal school activities have resumed.

The district will take appropriate disciplinary actions toward individuals involved, according to the district.

Principal Marlene Armstrong addressed social media whispers about dangerous weapons at the school:

“This is not true,” she said. “There were no weapons involved.”
