Another night of rain not only canceled a high school baseball game, but it could also block views of tonight’s lunar eclipse.
The National Weather Service this afternoon issued wind and blowing dust advisories for western Pinal County, which includes the city of Maricopa.
A low-pressure weather system from California is driving high winds, dust and, eventually, rain into the area, according to NWS Meteorologist Katherine Berislazich. Locals can expect wind gusts that range from 20 to 45 miles per hour, with the dust advisory effective until 5 p.m. and the wind advisory until 8 p.m.
The evening commute could be affected by the timing, since the blowing dust could reduce visibility down to one-quarter mile. However, it so far appears unaffected.
Drivers are asked to take precautions and to “be ready for a sudden drop in visibility.”
Some showers are expected to begin between 5 and 6 p.m.
There could be a chance of rain tomorrow as well, as a weaker system moves through the region.
