Just a few weeks after announcing it will move corporate offices from Oregon to metro Phoenix, Dutch Bros Coffee changed its mind about a second drive-thru in Maricopa.

After months of percolating and steeping, Dutch Bros Coffee confirmed this week it is no longer planning to bring a second location to the city, according to company spokesperson Brenna Bryan.

“I talked to our construction, real estate and development team, and they said we don’t currently have a second location coming up in Maricopa at this time,” Bryan said.

Dutch Bros submitted preliminary paperwork in July last year to construct a 950-square-foot location at Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Stonegate Road.

However, a few months later, the city clerk said communications “dropped off, and no new documents were submitted to Development Services,” indicating the end of the proposed project. The company did not confirm it backed out at the time.

Maricopa’s first Dutch Bros store opened in 2019 on John Wayne Parkway and Hathaway Avenue, making it the city’s fifth stand-alone coffee joint.
