Electrical District No. 3 was named a Smart Energy Provider by the American Public Power Association in at a conference in Louisville, Ky., this morning.
ED3 was one of more than 100 utilities nationwide to be awarded the designation that will last three years and was the second in the state to ever achieve that title. The Salt River Project, based in Tempe and serving the East Valley, received the designation last year, according to APPA’s website.
The designation “celebrates utilities that are committed to serving their customers while taking the extra step to plan for the future,” Chair of the SEP Review Panel Erin Miller said in a statement to InMaricopa.
“We are honored to be recognized as a utility that has implemented best practices around energy services programming including residential demand response, rebates and energy efficiency,” said Amy Goncalves, energy services representative of ED3. “This SEP designation represents our dedication to offering programs that keep our power affordable, support energy efficiency in our community and reduce our environmental impact.”
