Like it or not, another development is taking the next step towards construction.

Texas-based developer D.R. Horton closed on a 111-acre land sale last week to develop the Elena Trails subdivision, according to a news release Friday from real estate investment company Walton Global.

D.R. Horton will build 456 single-family homes on the southeast corner of Murphy and Farrell Roads, sitting directly south of the Volkswagen Arizona Proving Grounds.

Details on the construction timeline were not available, but home sales are expected to begin next year with prices starting at $300,000. Walton Global said the sale would “bring much needed new home inventory” to the city.

Early last year, the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the subdivision’s preliminary plans. In November, the city council approved the first two development phases for 215 homes.
