After several years, new development will resume at Estrella Gin Business Park.
Ten new buildings will join the existing structure on the northwest corner of Edison Road and Estrella Parkway, according to documents released to InMaricopa this week.
The mixed-use commercial project will house 82 units, enough for 22 retail shops and 60 office or storage spaces, according to the documents.
A project narrative said it would “serve as a more accessible and cost-effective option for local small businesses.” Some of the recommended occupants included boutique retailers, artisans with a showroom, small contractors and light manufacturing or warehousing operations.
The 70-acre Estrella Gin Business Park has been in the works since at least 2012. Salt Lake City real estate developer Boyer Group attempted to recruit businesses to the area in 2015, but businesses were reluctant due to high prices.
A developer was not listed in the new documents, but Shane Cook was still listed as the realtor on a preliminary site plan. Robert Klob Designs was listed as the architect; Klob currently serves on Planning and Zoning boards for Pinal County and for Maricopa.
The development still must be reviewed by city staff and the Planning and Zoning Commission before it goes up to the Maricopa City Council for approval. A timeline has not been set.
