Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire to break out in the bedroom of a Villages at Rancho El Dorado home last night.
Crews with Maricopa Fire and Medical Department were dispatched to the house on the 20000 block of North Marquez Drive at 10:43 p.m., according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch.
The call was for a fire in an upstairs bedroom, Battalion Chief Nathan Maxcy told InMaricopa on the scene.
“They went in, [and] made sure nobody was in the house,” Maxcy said, “Once they got upstairs, they did have smoke, but they found that the fire was out when they got there.”
Firefighters could be seen inside the home shining their lights out of the upstairs windows, and when they opened the windows, some black smoke came out.
“They checked to make sure the fire didn’t extend in any walls or into the attic,” Maxcy said. “There was no extension, so we used fans to clear the smoke out of the house, and we’ll be turning the house back over to the homeowners so they’re not going to be displaced tonight.”
There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is unknown: “That’ll be under investigation by the fire investigator.”
