Be Awesome hosted an inaugural basketball tournament on June 21, featuring 18 co-ed teams.

The event was designed by teens, for teens, to encourage youth to connect with the community during the summer months.

Team Heritage Select – with Jaden Hill, Mikey Duncan and MVP Geffory Haley – stole the championship title and walked away with the $400 cash prize.

Securing second-place was team Desert Sunrise A, comprised of Dominic Rivera, Richard Crudup, Kyjaun McCiteheu and Jordan Presmy.

Be Awesome intern Sawyer Coatney said the games were competitive, organized and most importantly, fun.

“We were able to provide a day of free fun for teens throughout Maricopa while also bringing the community together for this great event,” Coatney said.
