FIRST LOOK: New family entertainment center takes shape beside Copper Sky

The ball is rolling on a new family entertainment center slated for a coveted spot next to Copper Sky.

Site and building plans obtained by InMaricopa provide a clearer picture of the upcoming Maricopa Entertainment Center. The initial phase would cover about 3 acres and include roughly 24,500 square feet of indoor space, with a 16,500-square-foot building footprint.

The indoor-outdoor family center is the brainchild of Scott Bartle, a former Maricopa resident who first expressed interest in building the center last year. He purchased the 7.2-acre property in November.

The paperwork shows the exact location of the center: an empty lot between Copper Sky Regional Park and La Quinta Inn & Suites on John Wayne Parkway and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. A site plan shows the center would connect to Copper Sky Regional Park via a walkway.

Plans show mix of indoor attractions, outdoor spaces

Indoors, the center would feature duckpin bowling lanes, an arcade, immersive and social gaming areas, a kids’ climbing structure, laser maze and Valo Arena-style interactive gaming. A mezzanine level would include private event rooms, a bar and games area, billiards, projection dart suites, electric shuffle, multi-sport simulator suites, a private speakeasy and balcony overlook to the main floor below.

The building plans also show a café and kitchen with indoor seating, a covered patio and pass-through pickup window designed to serve both interior guests and outdoor visitors.

Outside, the site plan highlights miniature golf courses, a splash pad, fire pit and viewing areas, go-kart track, food cart space and an outdoor performance stage. Parking is planned around the site, with room for future expansion, including additional putting courses and nearby hotel development shown conceptually on the plans.

The update also nixes earlier plans for bumper boats.

Bartle said he was “beyond excited” to see progress move forward.

“Seeing our vision start to literally take shape through the design process is thrilling,” he said. “We are beyond excited to create an entertainment venue for all Maricopans and bring even more fun to Copper Sky.”

Scott Bartle is the publisher of InMaricopa.

  1. We already have Ak-Chin so close, not a good use of this commercial real estate. How about an indoor concert venue, or something more useful that the area does not already have?
