UPDATE 3:43 p.m. March 17, 2025 The westbound lanes of Interstate 10 reopened at Riggs Road, Casa Blanca Road and State Routes 187. The Arizona Department of Transportation also said the accident happened at milepost 168.
UPDATE 3:47 p.m. March 17, 2025 A serious crash closed westbound lanes of Interstate 10 are closed in three areas, confirmed the Arizona Department of Transportation this afternoon.
Westbound lanes have been closed at Riggs Road, Casa Blanca Road at milepost 177 and Pinal Avenue at milepost 185 due to the four-vehicle crash that resulted in three people injured.
ADOT has not stated when lanes are expected to reopen. Eastbound lanes remain unaffected by the crash.
UPDATE 3:25 p.m. March 17, 2025 Three people are confirmed injured in a crash on Interstate 10 near Riggs Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The four-vehicle crash occurred in the westbound lanes of I-10 near milepost 167 and involved a Gila River Police Department cruiser.
“The officer has minor injuries, however, two people in another vehicle have serious injuries,” said DPS spokesperson Bart Graves.
Westbound lanes remain closed.
ORIGINAL STORY 2:38 p.m. March 17, 2025 A crash has closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Riggs Road, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The crash occurred around 1:50 p.m. at milepost 168. A Gila River Police Department SUV with a crushed front end was disabled in the median.
Spokespersons for the Arizona Department of Public Safety and GRPD were not immediately available for comment.
Currently, there is no estimated time for the road to reopen and ADOT advises travelers to find an alternate route. Eastbound traffic is backed up past Loop 202, at least 6 miles. Westbound traffic is backed up to the Gila River Bridge, at least 4 miles.
There is also least two miles of standstill westbound traffic on Riggs Road.
