Maricopa residents placed their bets on the best area casino this week. 

Harrah’s Ak-Chin and Wild Horse Pass are the two nearest casinos to Maricopa.  

While Harrah’s is a stone’s throw from city limits, more than ten times as many Maricopa commuters drive past Wild Horse Pass on weekdays compared to Harrah’s, according to ADOT traffic data. 

But, by a factor of 3 to 2, Maricopans prefer to gamble closer to home, according to an InMaricopa survey of 512 people this week. 

Harrah’s won the jackpot of 308 votes.  

“Harrah’s Ak Chin is winning the poll,” Rancho El Dorado resident Bejean Page correctly predicted the day the poll went live. “Local good eats and love the swim up pool bar,” she said. 

More respondents passed on Wild Horse Pass, which claimed 204 votes. 

Reader Jennifer Newell said Wild Horse Pass has a “better ambiance.”
