Maricopa fire crews today worked to put out some lingering hotspots that were smoking days after a controlled burn near The Wells.
A farmer conducted a permitted controlled burn on a property southeast of Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Porter Road over the weekend. Reporters observed the white smoke on Saturday afternoon.
Maricopa Fire and Medical Department responded to the property just before noon today, according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch. Two firetrucks and a battalion chief were on the scene before leaving at about 2 p.m.
“A check of the area was performed today to ensure there were no lingering hotspots due to some residual smoke,” MFMD spokesperson Monica Williams told InMaricopa. “A few were located, so a crew responded and assisted with putting them fully out.”
