The first customer was Leroy Romero, a Maricopa resident and area leader for The Buckle, Inc. When asked how he felt about his first Baskin Robbins Maricopa experience, he responded, “I’m excited!” Romero is an avid Baskin Robbins connoisseur. Today he stopped in for his morning favorite Mocha Blast.

Soon after, three colleagues from Harrah’s Ak-Chin casino came in smiling from ear to ear. They had anxiously been awaiting the opening of Maricopa’s Baskin Robbins. Maricopa residents Sherry Ellerbe, Karen Scofield and Lynn Hamilton ordered their favorite ice cream treats and even took two orders back to their coworkers at Harrah’s marketing office. Ellerbe ordered her favorite menu item, a Banana Royale with cookies and cream ice cream; Scofield ordered two scoops of Pralines & Cream and Gold Medal Ribbon; and Hamilton ordered a scoop of Butter Pecan.

This is Koury’s third Baskin Robbins franchise. He owns two other stores in Ahwatukee. Atherton manages all three stores. When asked how they curb the urge to eat ice cream all day, Koury said, “After eating ice cream for two weeks in training, you get sick of it.”

Baskin Robbins’ hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the week. It is located in the Maricopa Fiesta shopping center just south of Bashas’.
