Is there pot in these ‘adult’ easter eggs in Thunderbird Farms? No, but there are pots

Flowering cacti won’t be the only things found at the Desert Plant Collection nursery in Thunderbird Farms this weekend. Eggs will be cropping up around the nursery as a part of an Adult Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday.

The first ever egg hunt at the nursery is aimed at adults due to the prickly nature of the property, where more than 60 hidden eggs will soon be hidden. The eggs contain vouchers for free cacti, agave, bushes and trees.

Some of the eggs also contain vouchers for larger bushes and trees in 15- and 25-gallon pots, which will be “delivered and planted with no charge,” nursery owner Agnes Gabica said. Three “golden eggs” will give attendees the chance to win a tree or landscape package valued at $500 each.

There will be free appetizers and drinks for adults. The egg hunt is free, too.

Gates at 10910 N. Brewer Road open at 9:30 a.m. and the hunt starts at 10 a.m. It will run until 12:30 p.m., but who knows how quickly eggs might be found?

If you do decide to attend, make sure to wear some comfortable walking shoes, said Gabica.
