UPDATE 9:55 p.m., July 30, 2024: Initial election results showed Proposition 482 is supported by the majority of Maricopans, as predicted by InMaricopa’s early polling mid-month.
More than 58% — or 3,094 voters — have marked ‘yes’ on the ballot measure that approves the sale of more than 700 acres of city-owned land. Early polling showed 62% of constituents planned to vote in favor of the measure.
Election results will not be official until the county’s board of supervisors canvasses the results on Aug. 12.
UPDATE 9:25 p.m., July 30, 2024: Rich Vitiello currently leads opponent Ron Weber as the Republican nominee for District 1 supervisor by nearly 18%. Democrat George Arredondo ran unopposed in the primary and gained nearly 2,800 votes.
In the sheriff’s race, Ross Teeple so far leads all opponents with more than 17,000 votes and nearly two-thirds of Republican votes. Patrick Melvin, who ran unopposed in the Democratic race, gained just over 14,000 votes. Current District 1 Supervisor Kevin Cavanaugh took nearly 31% of the Republican vote, followed by Charles Austin Jr. with just over 5%.

In the city council race, Vice Mayor Amber Liermann leads with 26.6% of votes. Councilmembers Bob Marsh and Eric Goettl each received 23.52% and 22.51%, respectively. Opponent Chrystal O’Jon so far received 16.8% of votes, followed by Le’On Willis with 12.12% of votes.
ORIGINAL STORY 7 p.m., July, 30, 2024: Arizona’s primary election polls have officially closed and that means it’s time to tally the votes.
Pinal County begins posting results at 8 p.m. tonight and while it can take days to get the final count, unofficial results will come from early ballots received by the county recorder from July 3 to 26.
For now, it’s a draw to see who comes out on top for city and county races but early polls from InMaricopa readers offered some insight into who could make winning and concession speeches as early as tonight.
Polling mid-month showed incumbent Nancy Smith led the city’s mayoral race, outperforming her opponent Leon Potter by 43 points. Vice Mayor Amber Liermann garnered the most support among city council candidates, with 69% of the vote, closely followed by incumbents Bob Marsh and Eric Goettl. Challengers Chrystal O’Jon and Le’on Willis trailed by between 33 and 54 points.
In county races, former Vice Mayor Rich Vitiello led the way in the early polling for District 1 supervisor, earning 75% support.
