Every Maricopa resident, every businessperson, every community leader is definitely a part of the “new” Maricopa. Each has helped create this rapidly growing city. In actuality, we are all part of Maricopa’s history.
What began as a small, rural farming community is growing into a bustling city, Arizona’s 88th city to be exact. Twenty or 30 years from now residents and business owners will be able to look back with pride on the “established” community they helped create.

Today’s Maricopa is a far cry from its beginnings as a small, rural farming community.
The Friends of the Maricopa Community Library agreed to spearhead the republishing of local teacher and historian Pat Brock‘s “Reflections on a Desert Town” because of the interest and requests of so many newcomers to the city. There is no profit involved for either Brock or the Friends; any monies raised from the sale of the book will go directly to fund a history area in the new Maricopa Community Library, which is only a few years away.
The Friends want to get started on this fundraising project, but they need YOUR help. We are all in this process of community building together. Please, won’t you step up and contribute to the preservation of Maricopa’s history?
Contributions, payable to the Friends of the Maricopa Library, should be mailed by September 10 to: Friends of the Library, P. O. Box 663, Maricopa, AZ 85239. All contributions are tax deductible according to the Friends’ non-profit designation (Maricopa Cultural Activity Center, Inc., 501c(3); tax ID number: 94-293340).
Donations will be gratefully accepted and acknowledged publicly. The Maricopa Friends of the Library are counting on your community spirit and generosity!
