Talk about Friday night lights.

A crash that took down a light pole Friday night resulted in a trifecta of citations for the uninsured, unlicensed driver.

The wreck happened around 6 p.m. on Loma Road near FLATZ 520. A speeder lost control of his sedan and smashed into a light pole coming around a bend near Maricopa City Public Services and Fire Department administrative offices.

The driver admitted to Maricopa police that he was driving at a high rate of speed and misjudged the curve, according to Maricopa Police Lt. Gary Gatzke. He lost control and left the road.

The unnamed driver was evaluated by medics but was not taken to the hospital. He was not under the influence, Gatzke told InMaricopa today.
