Lowe’s Home Improvement at Southbridge Marketplace should get final approval to put shovels in the ground when Maricopa City Council meets tomorrow.

The council will consider and discuss the final plat for Lowe’s on 10.7 acres of the 16-acre commercial development expected to include a supermarket to be named and retail spaces, including a marijuana dispensary.

Lowe’s officials hope to start construction by early summer.

The council meets at 6 p.m. in its chambers at City Hall, 39700 W. Civic Center Plaza.

The proposed commercial replat will maintain two points of access along West Honeycutt Avenue, and the West Edwards Avenue extension. It is anticipated to have several access points along the south side of the site on North John Wayne Parkway and North Desert Cedars Drive.

Phoenix-based TTRG AZ Maricopa Honeycutt Development is developing the commercial site. Rick Engineering of Phoenix is involved in the project’s planning.

Lowe’s is a national hardware retailer based in Mooresville, N.C., expected to be the city’s third after Karsten’s Ace Hardware and a Home Depot location that is already under construction.

The city is yet to approve the utility infrastructure to the site.
