A major closure on State Route 238 starting Monday will impact plenty of westward commuters over the next couple weeks.

Construction crews with Cactus Asphalt will resurface SR 238 between North White and North Warren Roads. The roadway will see restrictions from Monday until Thursday, Dec. 14 as crews mill and overlay the roadway. It will be restricted to one lane, and a pilot car will lead traffic.

Ongoing projects will continue closer to the heart of town. Lane restrictions on northbound John Wayne Parkway are slated to remain in place until June 24, 2024, according to the city’s website.

Westbound traffic on Hathaway Avenue will continue to be shifted over into the center lane until Dec. 8.

Garvey Avenue between Estrella Parkway to Condrey Avenue remains closed to all traffic for roadway reconstruction. It is slated to reopen May 1, 2024.

Road construction on Heritage Lane in the Heritage District is slated to last until Dec. 23.

Traffic light poles are under construction today at the corner of John Wayne Parkway and Sonoran Desert Parkway, according to a schedule provided by the city. Work will pause over the weekend and resume Monday morning.

Residents at the following neighborhoods should note street sweeping schedules this upcoming week:

  • Alterra: Monday, Dec. 4
  • Cobblestone Farms: Tuesday, Dec. 5
  • Senita: Wednesday, Dec. 6
  • Homestead: Thursday, Dec. 7

Luckily, for those who want to travel out of town this weekend, there are no freeway closures scheduled in Phoenix-area, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
