Headed up to Phoenix this weekend? You’ll likely need to take a detour away from Interstate 10.

Westbound I-10 will be closed between Loop 202 and US 60 (Superstition Freeway) from 10 p.m. tonight to 4 a.m. Monday for construction.

All Loop 202 ramps to westbound I-10 are closed. The westbound I-10 on-ramp at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard will also be closed.

As a detour, the state transportation department recommends drivers consider using Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) to reach westbound US 60 or westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway).

Drivers should note right lanes on westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will also be closed overnight between Loop 101 and I-10 in Chandler from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights, which may affect the detour.

Travelling to the West Valley? You also can consider using Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) as a detour for the I-10 closure.

Luckily, driving back to Maricopa should be smooth sailing. There are no closures planned on eastbound I-10.
