ASSAULT ARREST
Gabriella Compton was arrested Wednesday on multiple counts of child endangerment, assault, disorderly conduct, and alcohol violations. She was allegedly intoxicated in a vehicle with six children, one of whom said struck her, at Jiffy Lube.

A local man is facing domestic violence charges after an argument Sunday with his sister.

Fontae Canada, 24, was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct after allegedly getting physical with his teenage sister, Maricopa police said.

Around 6 p.m., dispatchers handling a distress call could hear screaming and yelling over the phone line. The caller stated Canada left the West Bilbao Street home on foot, returned and police were needed immediately. No further information was given, police said.

When officers arrived on the scene, several people were observed waving to get the attention of police. When approaching the front door, officers made contact with Canada who they said appeared to be heavily intoxicated and visibly angry, police said. Multiple witnesses, including family members, stated Canada became physically aggressive after an argument with his girlfriend. When family members tried to separate them, Canada’s 16-year old sister was caught in the altercation, police said.

Canada allegedly put his sister in a headlock, impairing her breathing. The girl told police she thought she was going to die. The girlfriend said once Canada started drinking, his behavior became erratic. Police said they were not able to get a statement from him due to the level of impairment and his combative nature.

Canada was arrested and booked into Pinal County Jail.
