A man who accidentally shot himself in a Homestead house this morning has died.  

Police were dispatched to a home in the 20600 block of North Wilford Avenue just after 9 a.m. on a report of a person shot.  

Officers found an adult man with a single gunshot wound to his chest, according to police spokesperson Monica Williams. 

“Based on the preliminary investigation, officers believe the man was cleaning or assembling his firearm and it accidentally discharged,” Williams said. “He was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.”
