The leftmost lane headed east on State Route 238 is currently blocked as crews work to move the vehicles involved in a collision that ended with a man on a stretcher getting loaded into an ambulance this afternoon.
Maricopa Police, Fire and Medical Departments responded to the rear-end collision near SR 238 and Costa Brava Avenue just before 4 p.m.
According to the public safety spokesperson Monica Williams, there were two vehicles confirmed to be involved. Officers told a reporter on the scene that a third vehicle received a minor “love tap.”
The three cars involved in the crash included two work trucks from NorthStar Communications Inc. and a silver four-door Honda Civic.
The Civic apparently rear-ended one of the work trucks and had heavy damage to its front end, and the airbags were deployed.

The driver who was transported appears to be a man who was operating the Civic.
The roadway is not completely blocked as MPD officers are on the scene directing drivers around the crash.
